The Journal of Hydroelectric Engineering is a first-tier academic publication sponsored by the China Society for Hydropower Engineering and approved by the China Association for Science and Technology. In order to enhance the quality of papers and shorten the publication cycle, the editorial board has recently made the following decisions:

1. Elimination of word count of submissions. Authors are required to provide detailed descriptions of the research background, methodology, and results analysis. The length of manuscripts is generally not less than 8,000 words, but there is no upper limit.

2. Strict requirements for abstracts, introductions, and conclusions. Specific requirements for the format of abstracts and conclusions are outlined in the submission guidelines.

3. Accelerate manuscripts processing. Authors are typically notified of the preliminary results of manuscript review within 2 months, with the editorial board p_r_o_m_p_tly providing explanations in exceptional cases.

4. Shorten the publication cycle to 8 months. Manuscripts accepted for publication from January 1, 2017, will be published within 8 months (calculated from the date of submission).

5. Publish accepted manuscripts online timely. Once the accepted manuscript has undergone final proofreading, the electronic version will be p_r_o_m_p_tly published on the journal's website.'
